State Council Newspaper of the Year"
Award for the 2nd time at the 2002 VVA National Leadership
Conference in August at Tucson, Arizona.
"The Texas Vietnam Veterans News" has received this award
3 times in 2000-2002-2003.
In August 2003 at the VVA National Convention in St. Louis,
TVVN received the award for the 3rd time
and at that time Jim W. Boyd (TVVN Editor) was asked to
take over the position of
VVA Press Club Editor-in-Chief (a sub-committee of the VVA
National Public Affairs Committee)
Since taking that position the "
Texas Vietnam Veterans
News
" has not submitted the newspaper
for the award in order to give other state councils an
opportunity to receive the award.

VVAFT makes quarterly donations to the Texas State Council for financial support of  the operation of the VVA
Service Office at the Dallas VA Medical Center

Jim Hallbauer is the VVA Texas State Council's Chief Service Officer in charge of all of the VVA Service Officers in Texas
The VVA Texas State Council has sent members for training at the Texas Veterans Commission
Seminars & a member to the VVA National Leadership Conference in Greenville, South Carolinato get
more people certified as VSO's. Currently the VVA TSC has gotten permission to open another VSO
Office at the Kerrville, Texas VAMC.  The TSC has also requested permission to open an office at the VA's
Waco Regional Office and plans are in the works once the TSC gets another person certified to place that
person at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Fort Worth, Texas
